The Short Answer
Stay in Lake Buena Vista, the resort area along SR 535 and around Disney Springs, if you want the shortest drives to the Disney parks. Our pick there is Sheraton Vistana Resort Villas: its two-bedroom villas sleep up to eight, have a kitchen and a washer and dryer, and Sheraton advertises the resort with no resort fees. Caribe Royale is the splurge, with two full bathrooms and a pool for villa guests only, and the Lake Buena Vista Resort Village is the budget choice, with two-bath suites and a free park shuttle.
Stay along US 192 in Kissimmee if an on-site water park matters more than a short drive: Margaritaville Resort Orlando includes Island H2O admission with its resort fee, and Westgate Town Center has the Shipwreck Island Water Park, which costs extra for non-owners. If Universal is your main park, our International Drive and Universal guide is the better fit.
None of these hotels is on Disney's list for Early Theme Park Entry, the 30-minute head start for Disney Resort hotels and a few others. If that perk matters more than space, look at Disney's own resort hotels instead.

Resort Fees, Parking and Renovations
- Resort fees vary. Westgate Town Center and Margaritaville charge a resort fee; Sheraton Vistana and Blue Heron advertise none. Since May 2025, a US federal rule requires the total price you are shown to include mandatory fees such as resort fees, so compare the full total, not the nightly rate. Our guide to booking a two-bedroom suite explains what to check.
- Parking. Marriott lists a daily parking charge at Royal Palms. Check the fee details on any listing before you count on free parking.
- Renovations. Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek is being renovated through February 2028. Its Tower 5 is closed through November 20, 2026, and that tower's pool through December 1, 2026.
- Vacation-club rules. Bonnet Creek, Orange Lake and the Westgate resorts are timeshares that also rent to the public. Club Wyndham resorts require a minimum number of nights, and most require the person checking in to be at least 21.
- Occupancy is firm. Count every child. Caribe Royale's villas sleep six; Sheraton Vistana's and Orange Lake's sleep up to eight.
Getting to the Disney Area
- From Orlando International (MCO): 30–45 minutes to Lake Buena Vista and 35–50 minutes to the Kissimmee resorts on US 192, by car without heavy traffic.
- To the parks: the Lake Buena Vista Resort Village runs a free shuttle to Disney World and Universal; book it 24 hours ahead. Margaritaville runs free transportation to the Disney, SeaWorld and Universal transportation centers. At most other resorts, plan to drive.
