The Short Answer

For a family of six who wants a true apartment, our pick is Floridays Resort Orlando on south International Drive: its two-bedroom suites have two full bathrooms, a king bedroom, a room with two full beds, a full kitchen and a washer and dryer.

If Universal is the point of the trip, book Universal's Endless Summer Resort (Dockside or Surfside). Its two-bedroom suites sleep six and come with Early Park Admission and free park shuttles, but they have a kitchenette and only one bathroom. Westgate Lakes on Turkey Lake Road gives you a full kitchen and laundry, plus a free Universal shuttle.

For the most space, the three Marriott Vacation Club resorts near SeaWorld (Cypress Harbour, Grande Vista and Harbour Lake) rent two-bedroom villas for eight. If Disney is your main park, our guide to two-bedroom suites near Disney World has shorter drives.
